With over 30 years of alterations and bridal gown design experience, she takes this process seriously and has a team of consultants who truly love what they do. And we always want to encourage our brides to consider having alterations to their gown to make it absolutely perfect for their wedding day. After all, the fit is truly everything!
It’s important to alter every dress to fit properly, even if it’s only a little bit. No matter how expensive the dress is, if it's not altered properly, it won't look any better than a gown that costs a fraction of that price.
Plus, there are so many different options for altering your wedding dress to fully fit your vision! Some brides choose to just do basic hemming for their gown, which includes hemming the length of the dress, making adjustments to the sides, and fine-tuning every little detail of the fit. Fitted gowns support and shape the bust, enhance and complement the body's shape, and are long enough to cover shoes, but not too long that they become tripping hazards.
Of course, there are also other details you can add to your gown that will make it even more special! Depending on the style, details can be added such as off-the-shoulder straps, sleeves, train lengths, lace appliqués, beads, buttons, and bustles. As part of the alteration process, the bustle is created and sewn into the wedding dress to ensure that the bride's train doesn't drag behind her while she dances.
